  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 4 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups Domino® Golden Sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 2 cups unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 8 cups Domino® Powdered Sugar
  • 2 tsp almond extract
  • 35 tbsp heavy whipping cream
  • Salt, to taste
  • Red and blue gel icing color

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare cupcake pans with liners.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well.
  3. Gradually add dry ingredients alternating with milk until just combined.
  4. Fill liners two-thirds full with batter and bake for 18-20 minutes.
  5. For frosting, beat butter and powdered sugar together until creamy; add almond extract and heavy cream to achieve desired consistency. Divide frosting into colors.
  6. Decorate cooled cupcakes with white frosting as a base layer, then use red and blue frostings to create the flag design.
