Ingredients
- 6 fresh bratwurst sausages
- 2 large sweet onions (sliced)
- 3 bell peppers (mixed colors, sliced)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 bottle (12 oz) German lager
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Place sliced onions and peppers in the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker.
- In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, salt, black pepper, paprika, caraway seeds, and crushed red pepper.
- Lay bratwurst on top of the vegetables evenly.
- Sprinkle seasoning mix over the bratwurst and add minced garlic.
- Pour beer around the edges of the cooker.
- Cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours until brats reach an internal temperature of 165°F.
