Ingredients
- 4 slices bacon, diced
- 1 lb (450 g) beef sirloin or steak, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp olive oil (if needed)
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 cups beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices crusty bread
- 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
Instructions
- Cook the diced bacon in a large pot over medium heat until crispy. Remove and set aside.
- Sear the beef in the same pot until browned on both sides; remove and set aside.
- Sauté onions and bell peppers in the pot until softened.
- Add flour to the vegetables; stir to coat. Gradually pour in beef broth while stirring continuously.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper; let simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Add heavy cream and return cooked beef to the pot; simmer for another 5 minutes.
- Serve hot with cheesy toast.
